Motivation to read books for first-year high school students

The diploma thesis focuses on reading, its support, and development among 1st-grade students in secondary schools, taking into account the requirements placed on students in relation to the final exam. Its goal is to outline some possibilities for appropriately motivating students to read in order to develop a positive attitude towards reading, and to provide inspiration for future graduates to engage with the relatively demanding ancient and medieval texts that are typically part of the curriculum at the beginning of their studies. The introductory chapters map the centrally set educational content of literary communication in secondary education as part of the Czech Language and Literature educational field, the position of reading and reading literacy in curricular documents, comparative research on reading, and professional opinions on literature education in Czech secondary schools. This is followed by a section dedicated to selected motivational means and methods that can be used within literature education to strengthen students' motivation for reading books and texts. The thesis concludes with examples of teaching lessons prepared on the topics of the oldest literature and their subsequent reflection after actual implementation in the educational process. Reader-oriented Activities of Selected Libraries in the Czech Republic

The thesis deals with reader-oriented activities of selected libraries in the Czech Republic. The theoretical part describes the functions of libraries and system of Czech libraries. Selected chapters comprehend the history of libraries and librarianship. The following chapters describe factors influencing reader's approach to reading, forms of librarian's work with the reader and reading projects and events. It presents selected libraries in the Czech Republic - National Library of the Czech republic in Prague, Moravian Library in Brno and The Research Library of South Bohemia in České Budějovice. In the practical part it describes the cultural and educational activities offered by libraries both for their registered and unregistered readers, and readers supporting activities they participace in. It is based on interviews with readers and analysis of the annual reports of libraries in 2018.
Supporting Reading of Pupils with Dyslexia in Secondary Schools

This diploma thesis deals with the issue of reading of the pupils with dyslexia and the possible support. It is focused on the methods of support and the strategies used by their teachers to develop reading of dyslectic pupils. In the first part, there is a theoretical definition of dyslexia, distinctive features of this diagnosis, diagnostic and education of dyslectic pupils. Further, reading is discussed from a theoretical viewpoint. These two aspects are interconnected and other factors like teaching, the teacher or the personality of the child come in. Then we deal with the methods that can help to improve the level of reading. The fundamental part is dedicated to the methods used for the support and positive influence on dyslectic pupils' reading. The thesis offers suggestions and inspiration for future and current teachers how to approximate reading to their dyslectic pupils. It also deals with some problems occurring in the profession. Encouraging students with dyslexia to read

The master thesis is focused on the reading and reading literacy of studentes with specific reading difficulty - with Dyslexia. The target group are students of the second level of primary school. The theoretical part focuses on the definition of the specific learning difficulty, expecially on Dyslexia. It follows not only a general definition and an etiology but also diagnostics in school practice. The center of interest is mainly the support of this group of pupils at school. This text presents the charakteristics of the reading skills and reading and reading literacy that contribute to school success. The thesis is to investigace the support of the reading at primary school. The empirical part is based on the analysis of the quantitative research data. The research focuses on the concept of reading, which is aimed at students of the second level of primary school, while the actual analysis follows possible nuances in the self-assessment component of the students representing the norm and students with Dyslexia. Literary and reading activities of the Research Library of South Bohemia in České Budějovice (own recommended activities)

The bachelor thesis deals with literary and reading activities, which is realized by the South Bohemian Science Library in České Budějovice. Prior to their description and analysis, in the theoretical part, attention is paid to the role of libraries for the development of readership and reading literacy in children and youth, followed by a brief description of the history of JVK in České Budějovice. Part of the practical part is the design of own activities suitable for the development of children's and youth readership.

The diploma thesis deals with free-time reading and is conceived in two parts. The theoretical part deals with reading, leisure time, pubescent readership, influences on children's readership, and support for leisure reading. It also deals with readers' clubs and research in the field of reading. The practical part consists of research in the readers' clubs at elementary schools and kindergartens in T. Šobra in Písek, J.K. Tyl and Záhoří in order to discover what kind of relationship children had to reading prior to attending the reading club and what reading relationship they have after a certain period of time of visiting such a club.

This bechalor thesis is dedicated to the problems of reading, especially the reading of children at elementary school. The crucial questions are what has influence on children's reading in positive as well as in negative way, and what are the ways, how to support it and to improve the current situation. This bechalor thesis is divided into three parts. First part (chapter 1-3) talks about the children's reading and about the most important influences on it. The family environment and the next development of a child are the most important factors. Second part (chapter 4) deals with the relations to other sciences, mainly the pedagogy and psychology. Third part (chapter 5-6) is dedicated to the support of reading and deals with the research of reading. Activities Connected with Reading for Pre-school Children

This thesis is offering a view of various officially organized events connected to books and literature. The theoretical part describes a child's development from a psychological point of view, as well as methodology of literature for nursery school teachers. The practical part approaches official literary events and activities for children. The exploratory study aims to find out more about the visit rate of events supporting reading, parents' awareness of these events and how many of addressed parents read to their children. The thesis is also bringing some information from the nursery school teachers. Interviews with teachers were conducted to find out more about their awareness of events supporting reading and attendance to these events, as well as about using literature in the class curricula. The main finding of the exploratory study is that a book still occupies important place in the lives of pre-school children.
